FAQ

What is the best pickaxe in this Poly Loot mining guide?
The Diamond pickaxe, the last of the four craftable pickaxes in the official Update 1.5 notes. Dannie's crafting screen shows it costing diamond ore and 10 epic shards; no second source shows that recipe yet.
Where is the best place to mine?
Dannie rates the five ore spots by the Bear Mountain cave entrance as the best farming spot, because they respawn by the time you finish nearby ores. That tip comes from one creator.
Is mining safe from PvP?
Not everywhere. In Dannie's footage the lower cave has PvP on and an upper area has PvP off, which Dannie recommends for players under level 10. A safe zone totem is the other option. Both tips come from one creator.
What does the Poly Loot gold mine do?
It produces gold over time. Upgrading it raises its production and storage, and adding Coal Ore doubles production while the fuel lasts, according to the official Update 1.5 notes.
What ores are in the game?
Five: Coal, Iron, Gold, Diamond and Crystal, per the official Update 1.5 notes. Crystal goes into the Crystal armor set, the Crystal Blade and the Crystal Scythe.

What do you need before following this Poly Loot mining guide?

You need a pickaxe and Miner Frank’s pickaxe quest line. This Poly Loot mining guide combines the official Update 1.5 notes with Dannie’s walkthrough: craft a Wooden pickaxe, upgrade it through Iron and Gold to Diamond, and spend the ores on better pickaxes, Crystal gear and passive gold. Mining arrived with Update 1.5, the official “Abilities + Mining + Bows” event that started on September 5, 2026.

Two creators show the starting point. ItsChalls shows pickaxes in the crafting menu next to swords, scythes, bows and armor, and Dannie’s beginner walkthrough points at the NPC who gives the pickaxe quest. The official notes name him Miner Frank. The auto-captions on Dannie’s mining guide render the name as “Miner Tom”. The same update added a crafting station inside the mine.

Which pickaxe recipes lead to the diamond pickaxe?

There are four craftable pickaxes: Wooden, Iron, Gold and Diamond. Dannie’s crafting screen shows what each one costs, and calls the Diamond one “the last pickaxe” for now (unverified):

Pickaxe Materials shown in Dannie’s guide
Wooden 25 wood, chopped with an axe
Iron 15 iron
Gold 15 gold plus red shards from mob drops
Diamond Diamond ore plus 10 epic shards

The shard costs mean mining is tied to combat. Dannie says you have to “farm some mobs” for the shards on the later pickaxes.

Where are the best ore spots?

The five ores are Coal, Iron, Gold, Diamond and Crystal. Where to find them comes from Dannie’s walkthrough alone, and Dannie’s advice depends on your level (unverified):

  • Early game (around level 20 and below): don’t pick a single farm spot. Roam the map and mine every ore you pass.
  • Mid to late game: farm the cave, and especially its bear entrance.

Here is how Dannie describes the cave (unverified):

  1. There are two routes. The cave entrance is “usually where you want to go”, and Dannie points new players to a second spot “by the very entrance”.
  2. Ore spots sit to the left and right just inside the main entrance. Past them the cave splits into five openings.
  3. Going straight down from the entrance only leads to skeletons, with no ores.
  4. The closest left opening has five ore spots and a passive mob that drops rare to legendary weapons.
  5. Further along, an extra cave entrance has a crystal ore. Crystals are what late-game players want for Crystal armor.
  6. The Bear Mountain entrance has the densest cluster: five ore spots that respawn by the time you finish the next ones.

Dannie also notes that any ore spot can roll any ore type, so a spot that gave iron once may give crystal next time (unverified).

Is mining safe from other players?

Not everywhere. Dannie’s footage shows the lower cave area flagged as PvP on, while an upper area near two ore spots has PvP off. Dannie recommends those spots for players under level 10, and suggests going back there or placing a safe zone totem if you get targeted (unverified).

Other creators confirm that PvP itself is a real risk. Gravy Live ran into it in the first session, and Dannie’s gorilla-quest video shows another player killing the creator while farming. The beginner guide covers staying safe in your first hours.

What is the gold mine, and how do you upgrade it?

It produces gold over time. The official Update 1.5 notes say upgrades raise its production and storage, and that adding Coal Ore doubles production while the fuel lasts. Dannie’s beginner walkthrough points to the NPC who gives it to you and calls it useful for “getting gold AFK”.

First upgrade costs gold, iron and some coal Dannie (unverified)

Dannie’s point is that coal, gold and iron stay useful after your last pickaxe, because the mine keeps asking for them.

What are ores used for?

Ores feed three things in the current game:

Official Poly Loot art: a knight in blue crystal armor holding a glowing crystal sword

Official Poly Loot promotional art of crystal armor and a crystal sword. Update 1.5 added a craftable Crystal set and Crystal Blade; the art is not labelled, so it may not match the in-game models exactly.

  • Pickaxes: each tier uses the next material up, as shown in the recipe table.
  • Crystal gear: the Crystal armor set (Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings and Boots), the Crystal Blade and the Crystal Scythe, all craftable since Update 1.5. Crystal is also one of the four original Index sets, and completing a set gives a permanent stat boost.
  • Passive gold: gold, iron and coal for Gold Mine upgrades, and Coal Ore to double its output.

The weapons and armor page lists every set and where it comes from. Gold is not the same as coins in the official store data: VIP lists 1.25x gold and 10k coins as separate perks, and Gold Packs are sold on their own. None of the sources here explain everything gold buys, so check the shop in game. The tier scrolls guide explains the coin-and-shard upgrade path, and the update log shows how mining fits into the wider timeline.
