FAQ

How do you start fishing in Poly Loot?
Go to the Tackle Shop in Beach Town and buy a Fishing Rod. You also buy bait, Lucky Charms and flippers there. Beach Town is in the area added by the V4 update, so you need to reach the Beach once first.
Can you fish outside the Beach?
Yes. The official notes say you can fish in every area, and there are 36 different fish in total. Only the shop is at the Beach.
What is the best fishing rod in Poly Loot?
The Godly Leviathan Rod, which the notes call the best rod for rare fish. It cannot be bought: it comes from fishing quests at a 1 in 500 chance. The buyable upgrades, in the order the notes list them, are the Carbon Pro, Deep Sea and Tidecaller Rods.
How do you get the Hooked enchantment?
From fishing quests at the Tackle Shop, at a 1 in 200 chance, or by trading fish with the Fish Trader since V4.5. It is Legendary, and the notes do not say what it does. It is the only enchantment that comes from fishing.
Where do you sell fish?
At the Tackle Shop counter in Beach Town, with no published prices, so check before selling anything rare. Since V4.5 you can also trade fish with the Fish Trader in Beach Town for Tier Scrolls, Shard Chests, Lucky Charms, Golden Bait and more.

How do you start fishing in Poly Loot?

Buy a Fishing Rod at the Tackle Shop in Beach Town. Fishing arrived with the V4 update on October 24, 2026, and the shop is the single hub for all of it: rods, bait, Lucky Charms, flippers, a counter for selling your catch and a fishing quest board.

You only need to visit Beach Town once to get started, because the fish themselves are everywhere: “Fish in every area for 36 different fish.” If you have not been to the Beach yet, the Beach page covers the area, and the World Map will take you back to Beach Town after your first trip.

Which rod should you buy?

The notes name five rods. Four come from the shop, and the best does not:

Rod How you get it
Fishing Rod Tackle Shop, your starter
Carbon Pro Rod Tackle Shop
Deep Sea Rod Tackle Shop
Tidecaller Rod Tackle Shop
Leviathan Rod (Godly) Fishing quests, 1 in 500

The only stated difference is that better rods “catch rarer fish”, and the notes call the Leviathan “the best rod for rare fish”. Prices and the exact order are not published, so read them at the shop.

What else can you buy for fishing?

  • Bait, at the Tackle Shop. The GONEFISHING code also handed out Golden Bait during launch week.
  • Lucky Charms, also at the shop.
  • Flippers. Pearl’s quest at the Beach gives a free pair, Pearl’s Flippers, with +50% swim speed.
  • The Fish Index, which the notes say to buy “to keep track of every fish you catch”, without saying where. It is not in the Robux store data, so look for it in game. It is the only way to track the 36, since the notes publish no fish list. Since V4.5, filling a page gives +1% luck and some bait or Lucky Charms, and filling every page gives a Mount Tier Scroll.

How do fishing quests work?

Take up to 3 at a time from the board at the Tackle Shop. Each one pays coins, XP and a Bonus Reward, and they are where the rare fishing rewards come from:

Reward Odds per quest What it is
Hooked 1 in 200 A Legendary enchantment
Leviathan Rod 1 in 500 A Godly rod, the best for rare fish
Rune Ray Not published A Godly mount, added in V4.5
Abyssal Key Not published Opens Abyssor’s rift, added in V4.5

Since V4.5 quests can also give Golden Apples, Shard Chests, Tier Scrolls and shards. The named rewards are long odds, so the quests are a side income first. Over 200 quests you have about a 63% chance of seeing Hooked at least once, and it takes roughly 460 quests to reach 90%. If you want the enchantment for its own sake, the enchants page lists what else is available and where.

Since you can hold three at a time and you fish everywhere anyway, the efficient habit is to keep three quests active while you travel through your normal farming route rather than making special trips.

Fisherman Gus also has a quest of his own, Notes in Bottles: reel in 4 bottles, then go back to him. One of Igro Mir’s bottles was behind the barrier at Builder Bruno’s broken bridge, so they had to fix the bridge first, then find a cliff where the rod could reach it.

What does the Fish Trader do?

He takes your fish in trade. The Fish Trader arrived in Beach Town with V4.5. He offers Tier Scrolls, Shard Chests, Lucky Charms, Golden Bait and the Hooked enchantment, and the notes name him as a source of Abyssal Keys and the Rune Ray too. “Trade more with him for extra offers and bigger discounts.” No rates are published, so compare him with the counter before you sell a rare catch.

How do you make money from fishing?

Sell your catch at the Tackle Shop counter. No prices are published, so we cannot tell you whether it beats combat. Fishing quests do pay XP as well as coins, so the time still counts towards leveling, which the leveling guide covers.

For combat income, the drops page covers what monsters give you.

Is there a fishing code?

Not any more. GONEFISHING gave 10 Golden Bait and 2 Lucky Charms, and it ran out on October 31, 2026 at about 16:00 UTC. The codes page has the codes that still work.

What is still unknown?

The full fish list, rod prices, catch rates, what bait actually changes and what the Hooked enchantment does have not been published. As creators and players document them, this page will add them with a source.
